How to manage your Simpleviewer Gallery |
|
|
This tutorial will explain how you can upload photos and manage your Simpleviewer gallery. First setup and access your site on the server. Click here to read about this in detail. Next step is to set up thumbnails. Click here to read about this in detail. Once you have generated the thumbnails, put the generated files in to a separate folder (e.g. create a new thumbnail folder) and change the file names to be exactly same as it's original file name. Example: If you generate a thumbnail from a file called abc.jpg, it wil generate abc-200.jpg (or similar depending on the specified thumbnail size) then change the file name to abc.jpg after moving it into a separate folder (so that duplicate name don't conflict) Then goto your gallery folder. Usually you will need to click on public_html folder first. In the gallery folder (e.g. tshirt folder) you will find a folder called images. Click on this folder and upload your original image files here by browsing on your left window (left window is local and right window is server) and dragging your image files to the server window on the right. Click on .. to go back a folder level on the server window so you are in the gallery folder again. Then click in to thumbs folder and repeat the same process except this time upload your thumbnails. Now you are ready to bring up the images on your gallery. Once you are in your actual Simpleviewer gallery folder, right click on gallery.xml file and click on View / Edit from the menu. Choose "Discard local file then download and edit file anew" if it prompts you to choose. Then once you are in a editor, look for the text area that shows something similar to : <image> This text block shows each individual images. Copy this block as many times as the amount of new images being added. Enter filename in between the filename tags. Example : <filename>abc.jpg</filename> Then enter any description between the caption tags. Example : <caption>This is my abc image.</caption> Thats it! You can now save and exit your file editor and view your gallery. Please note your browser maybe caching the flash file and you need to clear your browser cache first. Click here to read about clearing browser cache files. |
